The Power in a Day

Posted On: Fri, 09/29/2006 - 4:36pm by JoeAstrologer

Monday’s Child is fair of face,

Tuesday’s child is full of grace,

Wednesday’s child is full of woe,

Thursday’s child has far to go,

Friday’s child is loving and giving,

Saturday’s child works hard for its living

But the child that’s born on the Sabbath day

Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

It’s an old rhyme, but one that contains a bit of Astrology.
That idea being that time of birth relates to the nature of the child. To add further interest, consider the origin of the names of the week days.

Monday: named after the Moon
Tuesday: Mars
Wednesday: Mercury
Thursday: Jupiter
Friday: Venus
Saturday: Saturn
Sunday: The Sun, hence SUNday

These were the visible planets for most of humanities history. Each planet was believed, to rule a particular day. Of course the time alignment for the days of the
week has changed and will continue to change as adjustments are made to correct for errors in recorded time.
