Astrocartography

Astrocartography creates a fascinating connection between Astrology and geography. The horoscope chart itself is an informative resource that connects our life and time of birth to the earth. It is a record of the events in the sky that happened at the time of birth. No two horoscopes are the same. The planets move continuously, although slowly through the different signs of the zodiac. The earth however moves rapidly, resulting in the position of the planets changing rapidly on each individuals horoscope.
The horoscope is intersected with four major points created by the crossing of two lines, a vertical and a horizontal line. The horizontal line represents the plane of the earth, the east and west compass points. The vertical line separates the part of the sky above that is daylight and the opposite pole that represents the darkest time at night.

At the Summer solstice, noon local time, the sun is closest to the point of that day time vertical line. If an individual was born exactly at sunrise, the sun would be located on the horoscope at the east point of the horizontal line, or at the right side. Those four points have over time proven to be the most influential points in the horoscope.
Now we can imagine that if locally the sun at the time of birth was directly overhead, by moving physically west, the position of the sun would appear to progressively move to the east (and this is reflected on the horoscope); and of course if one could have been transported instantly to a position east of the actually birth place, the position of the sun would appear to shift to the west.

I find time and distance formulas an interesting area of study. Both location and time will change the horoscope. Four minutes will change the position of each planet approximately one degree. So a very short change in time, or a difference in location will alter the positions of the planets on the horoscope. This is were Astrocartography becomes a possible factor. We can’t go back to our birth and change the time, but in our current time we can move, thus changing the space, we can be travelers in space! And as space travelers, we can relocate to a place in which the location of the planets represented on our birth horoscope, are more favorable. Actually by moving to a place where favorable planets are aligned with that most influential horizontal and vertical line we can maximize the planetary influence.

If we move to a place where, say for example, Venus would be overhead on our birth charts, can we expect great romance? I would suggest that better relationships will occur over time, but I would not anticipate overnight magic. For centuries Astrologers that have an interest in this area, have observed and recorded the experiences of countless individuals. They have indicated that the evidence suggests planetary zones on the earth can and do have a significant influence upon individuals.

This is not my primary area of interest, I would prefer to analyze the birth chart and provide vocational, personal and relationship guidance. I like creating a time line and providing information that individuals can use to plan for their best future. But occasionally I find it most informative to look at one’s horoscope with the assistance of Astrocartography. Most people are not in a position to pick a spot and relocate, but on the other hand if one’s employer is requesting or requiring a move, it can be useful to consider the new location from the perspective of Astrocartography. Occasionally, I help a person that because of divorce or some other personal distress finds that it would be helpful to relocate, another opportunity for Astrocartography.

Astrology as I practice it, makes perfect sense. Astrocartography on the other hand, I really struggle to understand and appreciate. However, it seems to work and make sense when employed.

Relocation Astrology, similar but a bit different than Astrocartography, is very easy to manage. And it can really help answer questions about the potential of a different location. Very interesting stuff, and offering great potential for redirecting one's life.
